I modified the details of my design and added one more color to highlight the contents. I noticed that the texts around the margin are getting too cramped and distracting, so I removed some unnecessary texts and decreased their size. I also made the body text smaller and changed the weight for the time and speaker texts to bring in more visual hierarchy.
With the poster closer to done, I moved on to the article spread. Knowing the constraints and the theme I am going for, I had a clear goal going into this week. Nevertheless, it still took me a while to get used to using InDesign and make things look nice and organized. At first, I wasn’t too sure about my working process; I didn’t know if I should work with dummy texts first or just bring in the actual article. I felt like I couldn’t get a good grasp of how my work will actually look if I designed with sample texts, so I brought in the article.
Halfway through my work, I was getting so bored and tired. So I took a break from working with texts and thought about other details like pictures and page numbers. I thought it would be cool to make a custom page number using the stacking idea to tie in with the overall theme.
To be entirely honest, I am still not 100% sure about my layout and how I processed the paragraphs. Here are my spreads:
